On a Bicycle
If you're interested in riding your bike to the event, there are many trails that go to and from Gas Works Park. The Burke-Gilman Trail provides excellent access from numerous surrounding communities. If that option is unaccessible for you, the Seattle Bicycle Touring Club has put together a list of round-trip bicycle routes to Gas Works Park.
Other bicycling information can be found at these sites:
Via Public Transit
While the bus is a terrific way to get to Gas Works Park, please know that all buses will be running on a reduced holiday schedule, limiting the number of buses operating, scheduled stops, and amount of guests they can accommodate after the fireworks. If you plan to take the bus to the park, please prepare an alternate method of return transportation; the available buses after the fireworks will not be able to accommodate all guests. Please visit the Metro Web site for more information about public transportation and RideShare options to and from Gas Works Park on July 4th.
Additionally, you could leave your car downtown climb aboard the Seattle Streetcar, and view the fireworks from South Lake Union. The Streetcar will provide extended service to South Lake Union Park, with service every 15 minutes until 10pm, and every 10 minutes from 10pm to 1am. While this destination will provide a vantage point to view the fireworks, the Streetcar does not reach Gas Work Park, located at the north end of Lake Union. For more information, including helpful boarding locations, visit the Seattle Streetcar's website.
On a Boat
There are holiday-specific rules and regulations for those of you who want to enjoy the fireworks from your boat. Please visit the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation boating Web site for additional information regarding general boating rules and take a look at our Lake Safety Zone Map.
Boating Rules & Regulations
- The Harbor Patrol is allowing boaters to watch the show from the south end of Lake Union only. No boats will be allowed to moor at the north end of the lake.
- The north end of Lake Union will be kept clear by Harbor Patrol to allow vessels to travel freely between the Montlake and Fremont channels.
- The Montlake and Fremont channels will be closed at 9:00 pm and Harbor Patrol will not allow any more boats to enter Lake Union until the fireworks show is finished. So get there early if you want to watch the show from your boat!

Road Closures
The Seattle Police Department will be implementing a street closure plan, similar to last year, providing for residential access only to the neighborhood surrounding Gas Works Park. Beginning at noon on July 4th, access to the area north of Gas Works Park will be restricted to residents and others with legitimate business in the community. The area will not be open to people seeking parking for the fireworks display. Please refer to the SPD street closure map, which includes access points and times the closure is in effect.
For up-to-date information about road closures around the Lake Union area please visit the Seattle Department of Transportation.
Parking
Parking near Gas Works Park on July 4th will be difficult. We highly encourage you to park as far away from Gas Works Park as is comfortable for you to walk. You'll thank yourself after the show is over! If you decide to bike, take advantage of the dedicated bike parking area located on the northwest side of the park. Limited disabled parking is available at the Park entrance on N. Northlake Way. Disabled placards and decals are required.
